Sam Green | Jazz Drummer

Sam Green is one of the most exciting young drummers in the UK, building a reputation for his creative, lyrical approach to playing the drums.

Recording and performing with musicians from the worlds of jazz, folk, rock, pop and contemporary music, drummer Sam readily transitions between studio and live performance, in demand and frequently travelling throughout the UK.

Sam Green - jazz drummer

As a composer, Sam’s inspiration is founded in the natural world, drawing from time midst the lakes and fells of Cumbria, the valleys of South Wales and the mountain sided fjords of Norway.

Whilst collaborating on a number of varied projects, Sam’s first love is jazz and improvised music. Firmly rooted in the British Jazz scene, his highly interactive, but sensitive approach to drumming has led to him performing and touring internationally from the age of 20.

Originally from Leeds, Sam relocated to Cardiff in 2021, studying at the renowned Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) and subsequently at The Grieg Academy in Bergen, Norway.

Sam Green’s Rivers and Lakes

Rivers and Lakes is a six piece jazz collective, led by Sam Green (drums), featuring BBC young jazz musician of the year Ursula Harrison (double bass), Irish jazz musician of the year Nils Kavanagh (piano), Mykola Davydenko (guitar), Em Craig (saxophone) and Daniel Vause (alto/tenor saxophone).

The Kickstarter campaign to support recording and production of their debut album successfully closed in early August 2025. Rewards including compact discs, artwork, behind the scenes footage and short run vinyl release should be ready for distribution in 2026. Many thanks to everyone who supported.
